American Veterans in Need of Help in Brevard County

01/29/2018 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

“Dear Supporters of American Veterans in Need of Help in Brevard County,

We wanted to remind you of (or invite you to), our Inaugural Meeting led by UCF RESTORES-Trauma Therapy Program to bring together many organizations and individuals who care about PTSD and other needs of our Brevard Veterans. We will gather to launch the initiative on Monday, 29 January from 1000-1200. We will also have an optional lunch (at modest cost) for networking from 1200-1300, all at the Veterans Memorial Center, Gray Hall.

If you have not been to the VMC or Park, please come early or linger to visit our great museum and other facilities. We believe the Center and Park offers great venues to support veterans in many ways.

We expect almost 20 different organizations and a number of individuals with special skills and interests in this UCF/RESTORES outreach to Brevard. The purpose of this initial meeting is to learn first hand about a very special UCF RESTORES program now operating in Orlando with Brevard slated to be the first Central Florida outreach for the GOV funded program.

We expect about 40-45 dedicated people from US Government staffers (Rubio and Posey), numerous VA offices here and in Orlando, several Veteran Organizations, UCF and local Colleges and many others. By getting you all involved early we hope not only there will be better synergy, but quicker results. We thank all of you, especially Dr. Deborah Beidel’s team from UCF/RESTORES for the ground work to make this a great launch.

We have been working to engage organizations and individuals who are interested for two months, but you may know of others who would benefit or there may be others in your office who might want to join. We can and will welcome all!!”

Look for Helping Seniors onsite. Helping Seniors of Brevard, a 501(c)(3) organization, operates a Senior Information Helpline, at 321-473-7770, that is a free call for Brevard County Seniors who are in need of assistance. The Helping Seniors team will be onsite with valuable information – and will also provide opportunities to see the Helping Seniors – Win the Classic Ford Car Raffle Fundraiser Car.
