“Keep it going, people need us.”

Our beloved Founder, Joe Steckler, passed away on January 29th, 2025. Joe never took your kindness and generosity for granted. Joe always recognized that Helping Seniors of Brevard exists only because of the generosity of our donors. Joe was a man of courage, a truly selfless person, always concerned for others above himself. His final wish that he expressed to us was “Keep it going, people need us.”

“The Need for Helping Seniors.”

Now in our 15th year of service, Helping Seniors of Brevard has come a long way since our beginning in 2011.

Two years ago we opened our Joe’s Senior Resource Center of Brevard, providing a free monthly educational series for seniors, a Senior Resource Library, and it also hosts many senior focused businesses.  Our Senior Resource Center is home to our free Senior Navigation Services which includes our Senior Information Phone Line and a professional on-site Senior Navigator.

We’ve connected seniors to important resources such as affordable housing, transportation, legal services, financial resources, health resources, and more.

We developed a Volunteer Program and started our new program “Stay Connected” where a friendly volunteer reaches out to seniors who may feel isolated or lonely with a weekly phone call.

We continue with Helping Seniors Magazine, located in the center section of Senior Scene Magazine, a monthly free publication filled with information important to seniors.

Brevard County has one of the highest populations of seniors in Florida with one in two people over the age of 50 and one in four are 65+, which is why it is so important for Helping Seniors of Brevard to continue our mission, and we cannot do this without your help.

Helping Seniors of Brevard relies on generous donors to keep us going. We are proud that as a local charity, every dollar donated to Helping Seniors of Brevard stays in Brevard to help our seniors. We are so appreciative of our many donors without whom, we would not exist.

Please help us fulfill Joe’s wish to “Keep it going.”  Every dollar helps.  If you choose to support our cause, you can mail a check to us at Helping Seniors of Brevard, P.O. Box 372936, Satellite Beach, FL 32937.

You may also show your support by calling our office at 321-473-7770 or by making a secure donation online at HelpingSeniorsofBrevard.org . You can also donate in honor of a loved one and we would be happy to discuss recurring donations or bequests with you. Any amount is appreciated, and with your help, we can continue Helping Seniors of Brevard.

Your help does make a difference and we are beyond grateful for your kind support.

Sincerely,

  Kerry Fink
