Did you know that Brevard County has one of the fastest growing elder populations in the United States? With more than 110,000 citizens over the age of 65, Brevard has the 7th highest percentage of elders in the state, and the 24th highest percentage nationally. Nearly 30,000 of our residents between the ages of 60 and 64 do not qualify for most state or federal assistance programs. As a result, Brevard is experiencing not just a boom in elders, but also an increase in the number of seniors who are not covered for care.
The mission of Helping Seniors of Brevard County (HSOBC) is to advocate, educate, and fundraise on behalf of our local senior citizens, to improve elder care, especially for those who are economically distressed or who “fall between the cracks”.
In an effort to fulfill this mission, Helping Seniors invites you to become a sponsor and/or advertiser for our 1st Annual Fine Art Auction, to benefit Brevard County’s senior population. This exciting event will be held Saturday, October 17th from 6-10 PM at Holy Name of Jesus Church.
The Benefit Auction (silent and live) will feature many valuable and collectible items, including:
- Posters of Super Bowl XLIX signed by Heisman Trophy winner Joe Bellino, Tom Brady, Coach Belichek, and other Patriots
- 40 handmade rugs from Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, and China, including ten donated by Falasiri Rugs of Vero Beach
- Indian arrowheads c. 8000 B.C. fashioned into jewelry
- Dated copy of the Great White Fleet sent by Roosevelt around the world in 1907
- Signed photo of USNA grad Bruce McCandless making the first untethered space walk
- Art by local and national artists, including Frits Van Eeden, Phil Capen and Cecy Turner
Helping Seniors is asking general attendees for a donation of $25 for one ticket, or $100 for five tickets. Each ticket entitles the holder to wine and food at the event, a live and silent auction, plus entry into a drawing to win an Oriental rug donated by Falasiri Rugs.
Along with ticket sales, our corporate sponsorship program is an important part of our fundraising efforts for this event. Partnering is a win-win – for you, as well as for the Brevard County seniors we serve! How does it benefit you/your organization?

To purchase tickets, call our office at (321) 473-7770. All proceeds will be used to help seniors. Should you simply want to donate and have a chance to win a rug, it will be much appreciated; however, this is an event you will want to attend as the offerings are unusual and you may be able to get a “good deal.”
